Parham
Peyvandi (b. 1989, Iran) is a visual artist based in Victoria, BC, Canada. He
holds a BA in Urban Design and an MA in Painting from the University of Art in
Tehran. His landscape paintings explore the complex relationship between observation
and memory, and how these shape our experience of space.
Represented
by SARAI Gallery, Peyvandi had a solo booth at the Armory Show 2022 and has
appeared at several other top art fairs around the world including KIAF Seoul
2022, ASIA NOW 2022, and Taipei Dangdai 2023. His latest group exhibition was
held at the Escondido Museum in San Diego in February 2025.
Whether
representational or imaginary, painting and drawing have always been his way of
connecting with his surroundings, opening a dialogue on themes of existence,
belonging, displacement, and immigration. In his most recent series, Islanders,
he was inspired by the landscapes of Vancouver Island. These paintings reflect
the experience of arriving in a place that feels both beautiful and unfamiliar.
As someone new to the island, he sought to capture its striking views alongside
the quiet sense of distance they evoke.
